BYK-021

BYK-021 is a VOC-free silicone-containing defoamer that is particularly suitable for high-gloss and satin- gloss systems. BYK-021 effectively controls foam in aqueous systems even during airless application. As a mixture of foam-destroying polysiloxanes and hydrophobic solids in polyglycol, BYK-021 provides excellent defoaming without negatively impacting other properties of the formulation. BYK-021 is recommended at levels between 0.05-0.89% and must be incorporated under high shear forces to ensure proper distribution. When used in coating and construction product formulations, BYK-021 helps deliver a smooth uniform finish without defects from foaming during processing or application.
