DESMODUR XP 2551

DESMODUR XP 2551 is an aromatic polyisocyanate based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate. It is primarily used as a hardener for polyurethane systems. DESMODUR XP 2551 provides a brown low-viscosity liquid with an NCO content of around 32%. It exhibits viscosity of approximately 65 mPa.s at 25°C. DESMODUR XP 2551 is compatible with numerous hydroxyl-bearing polyesters and polyethers after a brief pre-reaction. It can be combined with products like Desmophen 5028 GT, 1380 BT or castor oil based polyols. Depending on the polyol used, the resulting coatings can vary from hard to flexible. Systems formulated with DESMODUR XP 2551 are suitable for applications requiring coating of concrete, asphalt, fibrous cement and plastics. It offers the benefits of a single component system that cures on contact with moisture to provide durable, abrasion resistant and corrosion protective coatings suitable for various construction and infrastructure projects.
