LAPONITE-RDS

LAPONITE RDS is a synthetic layered silicate additive that forms highly thixotropic gels when dispersed in water. It can be used to impart shear-thinning rheology and improve viscosity control in waterborne formulations. LAPONITE RDS hydrates and swells in water to give clear, colorless dispersions known as sols. These sols remain fluid for extended periods and can be easily incorporated into products. Upon the addition of electrolytes, gels are rapidly formed providing excellent thickening. LAPONITE RDS is well-suited for applications that require uniform coatings and smooth finishes. It allows formulations to level out during application for a high quality appearance. The product is also beneficial for water retention helping extend pot life. LAPONITE RDS is compatible with a variety of chemistries and can deliver benefits across multiple industries.
