BYK-3771

BYK 3771 is a silicone surface additive that provides strong reduction in surface tension. It contains OH-functional groups and is solvent-free. BYK 3771 improves properties like surface slip, substrate wetting and tape release even at low dosages. Half of the standard dosage of conventional silicones is generally sufficient. BYK 3771 reacts with binders via primary OH groups and is primarily used in solvent-borne and solvent-free two-pack systems. Its good compatibility enables highly transparent formulations without turbidity. BYK 3771 is especially suitable for applications requiring wetting of critical substrates. When used in exterior applications, BYK 3771 allows the additive to be effective for a sufficiently long period of time by being anchored in the surface. BYK 3771 facilitates sufficient adhesion when the coating is carefully sanded before recoat or retouch.
