Orafti®Organic OF is a food ingredient (powder) consisting of oligofructose produced by partial enzymatic hydrolysis from chicory inulin. It is obtained from chicory roots that have been grown and processed applying organic principles in accordance with applicable EU legislation. Oligofructose consists of oligosaccharides composed of fructose units linked together by ß-(2,1)-linkages. Part of the fructose chains are terminated by a glucose unit. The number of fructose and glucose units in oligofructose (Degree of Polymerization = DP) ranges mainly between 2 and 8. Nutritional benefits: improving the balance of intestinal flora; supporting fiber enrichment; reducing food intake; reduing fat content; and increasing calcium absorption. It is an ideal fat replacer and is easily incorporated in moist or semi-moist food products.
