Benecel™ is a nonionic water-soluble polymer derived from cellulose. It is a cellulose ether, but it differs in that it is nonionic and its solutions are unaffected by cations. Benecel™ properties and functions make it suitable for use in a broad range of applications in the pharmaceutical industry. The polymer is available in many types based on methyl substitution, viscosity, particle size, and other parameters. Benecel™ Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) providing reversible hot water gelation, oil barrier, film formation. Viscosity range: 2,700-5,040 cps in 2% water. Methyl content: 20 - 24 %. Hydroxypropyl content: 7 -12 %. Typical gelation temperature (°C): 75-85. Particle size (μm): 170 min - 250 max.
