VINNAPAS AF 474 is an aqueous dispersion of a hydroxy-functional acrylate copolymer. VINNAPAS AF 474, is used for coating plastics, for rendering films heat sealable and, preferably in combination with melamine resins, for producing heat seal-resistant coatings with good water resistance, especially on aluminum foil. Depending on the formulation, VINNAPAS AF 474 imparts heat-seal resistance up to 250 C. Coatings based on VINNAPAS AF 474 offer excellent printability. VINNAPAS AF 474 substrates are especially suitable for printing with aqueous, acrylate-based printing-ink systems but as well with NC- or UV-inks. VINNAPAS AF 474 adheres extremely well to metals and many polar plastics and forms a transparent coating at room temperature. The dispersion's thermoplastic properties make it heat sealable. However if crosslinked with suitable reactants via the hydroxyl group VINNAPAS AF 474 forms films that resist heat-sealing even at high temperatures.
